Mara Motherway is Booz Allen's Corporate Vice President of Government Relations and Military Affairs, a recognized public policy expert, and a retired U.S. Naval officer. Starting in 2017, Mara built Booz Allen's government relations capability from the ground up, formalizing the function for the first time in the firm's 105-year history. She is responsible for developing and executing Booz Allen's public policy and government affairs activities. In this role, she also guides the firm's interactions with the executive branch, Congress, state and local officials, think tanks, and trade associations. In addition, she leads the firm's Military Affairs team, designing and implementing unique programs to support veterans and military spouses and serving as the firm's spokesperson on the unique value women veterans bring to technology and national security.

With over 25 years of government and private sector experience, Mara has deep expertise across federal government missions and a track record of large-scale transformation. This enables her to communicate the high impact of Booz Allen's emerging technology portfolio and the importance of crisp policy to enable adoption at the speed of demand.

Prior to her current role, Mara served as the business development executive for Booz Allen's defense and military intelligence business focused on high-growth information technology initiatives. Before joining Booz Allen, Mara served as a strategy executive at BAE Systems. During her naval career, Mara served globally in diverse assignments ranging from combat operations in the Middle East to leading a counter-terrorism intelligence task force in the Pentagon to managing legislative affairs for the Defense Intelligence Agency.

She serves on the boards of International Spy Museum, Blue Star Families, and the National Defense Industrial Association and is a member of the AFCEA Intelligence Council. Since 2018, The Hill has identified Mara as one of Washington's Top Lobbyists for a Fortune 500 company.

Mara holds a B.S. in political science from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master's in public administration from Harvard University, and an M.S. in national resource strategy (distinguished graduate) from National Defense University.
