Laura Schmiegel is Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships at Orion Talent. Laura Schmiegel is Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships at Orion Talent. In her role, Laura is responsible for cultivating partnerships that facilitate Orion's expansion as a leader in military employment services, including government, nonprofit and private sector collaborations. In particular, Laura is focused on creating pipelines of military talent to help narrow the skills gap and re-shore critical infrastructure and manufacturing jobs to the US.

Prior to joining Orion, Laura was the Head of Military and Veteran Affairs at Booz Allen Hamilton, where she was responsible for all aspects of the firm's military partnership strategy and for advising the firm's military recruiting, diversity and government relations teams. Laura's career began in military nonprofits. She was a founding member and later Chairman of the Board at Blue Star Families, she created and directed the military spouse program at Hiring Our Heroes and served as a regional director for The Mission Continues. She earned a law degree from the University of Michigan and her writing has been published in the Washington Post, The Hill, and the Christian Science Monitor. Laura lives in Arlington with her husband Kevin Schmiegel (USMA Ret.) and children.
