Prior to ForgePoint, Ernie was the chief operating officer of the Defense Innovation Unit, a DoD organization that serves to bridge the gap between cutting-edge startups and the Pentagon. His initial role in the organization was the director of the cybersecurity portfolio as a member of U.S. Cyber Command. Ernie's private sector experience includes strategy consulting and various roles at tech startups. He started his career as an Air Force F-16 pilot following completion of his undergrad.

Ernie is a visiting fellow at the National Security Institute at George Mason University, where he focuses on national security strategy and cybersecurity. Ernie holds a B.S. in cell & molecular biology from Loyola University and an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business.
